It is a metric (according to us) to see whether we are popular and the first time we find a link about us on the first page, we become overwhelmed and start telling our friends about our newly attained popularity. Yesterday I read an article on The Assam Tribune (link) that a person named RK Rishikesh Sinha has launched a Search Engine named “Bisarok” (synonymous to “Search” or “Find” in English) built on the Google Custom Search platform.
